"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or gazelle - when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

2010 Goals Reviewed and 2011 Goals Set

So at the beginning of this year I made a list of goals so I guess it's time to review 'em and make some goals for 2011. (Sidenote: all the goals that I didn't complete will more than likely be on my 2011 list. :)

So these were my 2010 Goals...

Running/Exercise/Workout Goals: Out of my actual fitness goals I only completed 1 and that was running a half marathon which I did June of this year. So I guess I have my work cut out for me next year.
~Run a 5k in under 25 minutes:
~Run my first 10k:
~Run my 1st half marathon
~I am going to challenge myself to run more miles each month than the previous month (so if I run 15 miles in January I am going to run more than 15 miles in February so forth and so on)

Nutritition/Eating Habits: Daily food blogs was a big fat fail I think that lasted half a week but I did start a very small modest vegetable garden and I am looking forward to expanding it next year.~I am going to start doing daily food blogs (I have noticed that my Wednesday post really make me take the time to think about what I am going to eat, so I am hoping posting my daily menu will help me make better decisions, I will try and post everything I eat, the good and the bad maybe not always with pictures)
~Going to start a garden (no more talkin bout it time to be about it). I plan to blog about it here..

Personal Growth: No personal growth here unless reading the twilight books every month for about 6 months counts and I think not.
~I plan on starting back to school in the fall (for like the 100th time) and finally work my way to finishing my degree
~Read at least 2 books a month

Some Fun Stuff: We do a vacation for a week with the kids :) but I have yet to set foot into a food festival... in fact I am going to google dates now.~Go to at least food festivals possible candidates: Gilroy Garlic Festival, California Strawberry Festival (Any Suggestions???)
~Take a 4 to 7 day vacation with my family

____________________________________________________________________

Besides doing a 2011 Goal list I am also going to do a running bucket list but that is a work in progress and will come about sometime in the near future.

So here we go again my 2011 Goals...

Running/Exercise/Workout Goals:
~Run a 5k in under 30minutes
~Run my first 10k:
~Run at least 2 RnR 1/2 Marathons
~Run a 5k in under 25 mins.

Nutritition/Eating Habits:
~Expand vegetable garden to include more veggies and get the kids more involved in planting and maintaining the garden.

Personal Growth:
~I plan on starting back to school in the fall (yea like you haven't heard that before) but all my kids will be in school at least 3 hrs. a day so no excuses.
~Volunteer in some capacity either at one of the girls schools, after school program or something

Some Fun Stuff:
~Go to at least 1 food festival in California
~Take a 4 to 7 day vacation with my family

What about you what are you hoping to accomplish in 2011???

Three Things Thursday

1.) Yesterday we took a "family field trip" which translates to we let the kids ditch school and took them to Knott's Berry Farm. It was on a roller coaster that I had a epiphany, when I was younger I would be the one on the roller coaster in the front seat, hands up, laughing at my friend screaming next to me. Yesterday however as we rounded the corners and took on stomach in your throat drops from the middle row all I could think about as I held my eyes shut, was the best position I could put myself in if the dang thing went off the rails (and the conclusion i reached is there was no best position). And as the ride came to an end and I stared into the smiling and excited face of my 7 yr. old I realized.... I am too old for that stuff and spent the rest of the day on rides more my speed.

2. Race Schedule (so far)
I would like to run on actual 5k or 10k race once a month and know I wanna do 2 RnR Half Marathons so I have chosen the RnR San Diego and RnR Las Vegas to ensure I actually do em I am going to register for San Diego in January and Las Vegas at the San Diego 1/2. I think that paying out the money that far in advance will keep me motivated to actually run them. As for my smaller races I am going to break the year into trimesters and plan for four months at a time. Sprinkle in some virtual races and I think I am on track to have a productive 2011.

January: Freeze Your Thorns Off Virtual 5k
Feb 19th Bakersfield Track club 5k
March 12th Nutty Run
April 10th Irvine Mud Run
( I have a friend who is trying to talk me in to my first mud run but I may back out and find a 10k instead)
June: RnR San Diego 1/2
Dec: RnR Las Vegas 1/2

3. I am thinking about checking out a yoga class tonight I have been really anxious and on edge lately and I can't really put my finger on why so I am hoping some stretching and breathing will calm my nerves and help clear my mind.

Just a little reflecting

So as the end of this year is quickly approaching I figured it was about time I sat down and took a good hard look at what went wrong. I was look back at some of my post when I first started blogging and within them I see so much motivation and determination, my eating habits were so much better and my running seemed like something I would never be able to live with out but at some point this year that me just stopped maybe it was completing my first 1/2 marathon and not having a set plan for what was next or not keeping my priorities straight and allowing taking care of myself to fall back down to the bottom of the list, whatever the reason I have decided that I need to head into 2011 with a precise and organized plan. While I am not 100% sure of what that plan is I am for starters cleaning up my eating and getting back on track with that my motto for food in 2011 will be " Nothing taste as good as being healthy feels". I am also working on a race schedule for next year and have already told my husband how important that is to me to run the races I put on the calendar and he seems to be in full support of it. Okay I am done rambling that is just what i had on my mind and thought i would share....

Hello Again

So after a great week spending time with family, eating way to much food, cleaning, recleaning and bustin out Christmas decorations I am finally back online (yea if you noticed I didn't mention working out that would be because I didn't/haven't in at least 2 weeks and I have about 7 extra pounds to prove it, but no worries I have a plan ) aside from not running I also did not spend anytime on my computer so I have not even read your wonderful blogs during the past week and a half so I am going to spend the next couple days catching up on your blogs and will hopefully be back up and running both figuratively and literally this weekend. I am interested in hearing about you thanksgiving so if you posted about it plz leave me a link, if you haven't posted bout it how was it? did you stay home or travel to celebrate? What was good on the menu?
